I recorded my 1,800th dive yesterday on the Jupiter Wreck Trek while training our new instructor as a dive guide for Jupiter Dive Center – Great conditions for a milestone dive – Thanks JDC
This month marks the end of my fifth year as a dive professional in Florida. I still reside in Stuart, Florida (the heart of the Gold and Treasure coast) and continue to teach scuba. Although certified as an independent contractor, I primarily work with the Jupiter Dive Center. I still enjoy diving and teaching, and spend most of my time underwater on the reefs and wrecks in the surrounding area.
I gained the following Continuing Education Credentials in 2017: TDI Advanced Gas Blender, TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver, TDI Decompression Procedures Diver, and PADI Whale Shark Awareness Diver. I also earned the following Instructor Certifications in 2017: SDI Equipment Specialist Instructor, SDI Goliath Grouper Awareness Instructor, SDI Lionfish Awareness Instructor, SDI Lionfish Eradication Diver Instructor, SDI Research Diving Instructor, SDI Shark Fundamentals Diver Instructor, SDI Turtle Diver Instructor, and SDI Underwater Hunter & Collecting Instructor. I am now able to instruct 40 PADI and/or TDI/SDI Specialty and Distinctive Specialty courses, as well as 4 Emergency First Response (EFR) courses.
I recorded 345 open water dives and several more confined water dives in 2017. I’ve logged 1,712 total dives (at 276 separate sites in 10 countries) since becoming certified as a scuba diver. As a Scuba Instructor I certified 137 divers in 2017 (70 PADI certifications and 67 TDI/SDI certifications), bringing my lifetime total to 498 diver certifications. 2017 was once again an amazing year because of my students, peers, mentors, and the amazing staff at Jupiter Dive Center—all of whom continue to make scuba diving a rewarding and joyful adventure.
Congratulations to Lisa Brady (Pooler, GA), Jamie Green (Elkhorn, WI), Laurent Isaure (Miami, FL), Marge Linn, (Port St. Lucie, FL), Asa Schrader (Fort Myers, FL), Eric Schrader (Fort Myers, FL), and Steve Whittington (Pooler, GA) who completed the requirements for the SDI Shark Fundamentals Diver Specialty. We only logged a few shark sightings at Area 51 reef and Tunnels reef, but it was a fun and rewarding experience aboard Republic VII out of the Jupiter Dive Center. I wish them all the best as they pursue additional specialty certifications and continue to enjoy their time under the sea.
2016 Year in Review
This month marks the end of my fourth year as a dive professional in Florida. I still reside in Juno Beach, Florida (the heart of the Gold and Treasure coast) and continue to teach scuba. Although licensed as an independent contractor, I primarily work with the Jupiter Dive Center. I still enjoy diving and teaching, and spend most of my time underwater on the reefs and wrecks in the surrounding area.
I am currently approved to instruct 33 PADI and/or TDI/SDI Specialty and Distinctive Specialty courses, and 4 Emergency First Response (EFR) courses. I’ve certified one or more students in each of these specialty areas, and each class has been fun and rewarding.
I recorded 304 open water dives and several more confined water dives in 2016. I made my 1,300th open water dive in September and I continue to learn and enjoy all that this sport has to offer. I certified 74 divers in 2016 (30 PADI certifications and 44 TDI/SDI certifications). I’ve taught students from 4 Countries and 15 States, with ages ranging from 13 to 62—proof that this is truly a sport everyone can enjoy.
2016 was once again an amazing year because of my students, peers and mentors—all whom continue to make scuba diving a rewarding adventure.

If you’re at least 21 years of age, rated an Advanced Open Water Diver or higher, have a minimum of 100 logged dives, and you’d like to expand your knowledge and experience underwater, then this course may be for you. I’m teaching the SDI Solo Diver course on Tuesday, July 26th and again on Saturday, July 30th. This course can be taken online or in the classroom, and it only requires two open water dives. Please contact me or the Jupiter Dive Center to get started today.

Congratulations to Christian and Sarah Bautista (Metairie, LA) who earned their PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certifications today while diving with the Jupiter Dive Center at the world famous Blue Heron Bridge. We were hoping for a boat trip but the winds kept us at the bridge. We did experience some unusually great visibility and warm water conditions though so all in all, not a bad way to spend a morning. Special thanks to Rob & Alex from Underwater Adventures for bringing them to Florida for their check-out dives. Best wishes to the newlywed couple – happy diving!
